FAQ

Frequently asked questions about personal hygiene and care routines with children and toddlers

How often should children be bathed or washed?
  • Toddlers: about once or twice a week
  • Elementary school children: two to three times a week
  • School children: at your own discretion two to three times a week or every 2 days

When puberty begins, the body changes and hormonal changes lead to increased sweat production and therefore a more intense body odor. From this point on, it may be a good idea to increase the frequency.

Please note that these are only rough guidelines - and we all know that theory is often easier than practice. ;) Individual skin and hair needs can and should vary. Here you can find more tips and tricks for children's body care .

How often should children wash their hair?

Since children's hair doesn't tend to get greasy so quickly, washing it once or twice a week is usually enough. Of course, other factors also play a decisive role, such as whether your child does a lot of sport or has played in the dirt. You can find more information here .

Baby shampoo or kids shampoo - what's the difference?

Babies' sensitive scalps require special care, which is why our 2-in-1 shampoo with organic aloe vera cleans particularly gently. The Kids Shampoo is ideal for children's longer hair that requires more intensive cleaning. It foams wonderfully and soothes the scalp thanks to organic marigold extract.

Should you apply sunscreen to children every day?

This really depends on your child's skin and also external factors such as the seasons. However, if your child tends to have dry skin, you should give the skin an extra helping of moisture after bathing. With our practical pump dispenser in the maxi size, the kids can easily dose our body lotion or basic cream themselves. If your skin is very dry or has neurodermatitis, you should use a rich, moisturizing basic care product regularly, ideally twice a day.

At what age should my child start using deodorant?

The hormonal changes in the early and pre-puberty phase, which often begin around the age of 8 or 9, also stimulate sebum production. There is absolutely no reason to worry: this is a completely physiological process. However, some people are bothered by their own smell and children can also suffer from suddenly smelling different. This is where gentle educational discussions can help, which make it clear to everyone how normal this process is and that regular body care and the use of a light children's deodorant are often enough to feel good again.

Do I have to disinfect my child's hands regularly?

No, regular hand disinfection is not necessary for healthy, immune-competent children and can even be counterproductive in the long term. Hand disinfection should only be used regularly when there is no possibility of washing hands - for example when traveling.
