We often receive questions from you about the correct use of our mineral sunscreen . A frequently asked question is whether you should apply sunscreen under or over your day cream.
In this blog post, we therefore give you our recommendation on the order of sun protection, day care and make-up.
Sunscreen and day care
The basic rule for mineral sunscreen is: first apply the day cream , then the sunscreen .
Why? A day cream usually has a thinner consistency, which means it is quickly absorbed by the skin. In contrast, mineral sunscreen forms a protective layer on the skin. So if sunscreen is applied first, the good ingredients and active substances in the day cream may no longer penetrate the skin.
It is also particularly important that you allow your day cream to absorb properly before applying sunscreen. This way you avoid the day cream and sunscreen mixing. This could lead to a reduction in the sun protection factor.
Did you know that our med base cream is ideal as a day cream under our mineral sunscreen and was even named the best vegan facial care product 2023 by PETA as part of the PETA VEGAN BEAUTY AWARD ? In our team, we really like to use it as a day cream because it is very rich, but still absorbs well and leaves the skin feeling great.
Sunscreen and make-up
Make-up is different. You should always apply make-up after using sunscreen. This way you can ensure that the sunscreen forms an effective protective barrier against harmful UV rays.
