We repeatedly receive questions from you about the correct application of our mineral sunscreen. A frequently asked question is whether sunscreen should be applied under or over day cream.
In this blog post, we therefore provide our recommendation on the order of sunscreen, day care and make-up.
Sunscreen and Day Care
The basic rule for mineral sunscreen is: first the day cream, then the sunscreen.
Why? A day cream usually has a thinner consistency, which means it is quickly absorbed by the skin. In contrast, mineral sunscreen forms a protective layer on the skin. If sunscreen is applied first, the beneficial ingredients and active substances of the day cream might no longer be able to penetrate the skin.
It is also particularly important that you let your day cream absorb well before applying sunscreen. This way you avoid mixing the day cream and the sunscreen. Such a mixture could lead to a decrease in the sun protection factor.
By the way, in our blog post med Base Cream vs. med Day Cream, we have summarized the exact differences between our two products in detail.
Sunscreen and Make-Up
The situation is different with make-up. This should always be applied after the sunscreen. This ensures that the sunscreen forms an effective protective barrier against harmful UV rays.
