Our new med Sun Balm SPF 50 was honored by PETA Germany with the PETA Award in the category "Best Vegan Sun Care" – hooray! We are, of course, thrilled with this special recognition! In this blog post, we'll provide some background on the award and what makes the med Sun Balm so special.
Who is PETA Germany e.V. and what's behind it?
PETA Germany e.V. is a German animal rights organization based in Stuttgart, founded in 1993. It is part of the international network of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), the world's largest animal rights organization.
Its stated goal is to raise awareness of animal suffering and to encourage people to commit to an animal-friendly lifestyle. The non-profit organization annually presents a variety of awards to evaluate brands and companies and to recognize outstanding, innovative, sustainable, and animal-friendly products in their respective categories. What is the PETA Vegan Award Beauty?
Since 2021, PETA Germany has annually presented the Vegan Award in the Beauty sector to recognize the best vegan cosmetic products. With this award, the non-profit organization supports companies that are committed to vegan and cruelty-free products. The evaluation is based on various criteria such as efficacy, fragrance, skin feel, and the innovative strength of the products.
Among a total of 24 different categories, our med Sun Balm was named this year's "best vegan sun care"! Our med Base Cream also received an award; in 2023, it won the Vegan Award in the Beauty category as the "best vegan face cream".
Best vegan sun care – what makes our med Sun Balm so special?
The Sun Balm from our med series was developed by our founder and doctor Dr. med Michaela Hagemann, together with bioanalyst and specialist influencer Anni from annisbuntewelt, specifically for people with very sensitive skin and skin conditions such as neurodermatitis. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can also ideally use it on their skin thanks to its hypoallergenic formula.
What's special: It is completely water-free and therefore does not require preservatives, a unique feature rarely found in sun protection products. With almond oil, cocoa butter, and plant-based triglycerides, it provides the skin with long-lasting moisture. The purely mineral zinc oxide filter reliably protects against UVA and UVB radiation without any waiting time, even in winter.
